How Hot Will it Get?
According to the BBC July 2019 was one of the hottest months ever recorded. They also claim that the world is set to become even warmer. In How Much Warmer is Your City? the BBC has mapped out how much the world has warmed in the last 100 years and how hot the world will get in the next century.
How Much Warmer is Your City starts with a 3d globe which shows the average temperature around the world in the last ten years compared compared to the temperatures recorded from 1880-1900. On average the world has warmed by 1 degree. Many climate scientists argue that in order to avoid devastating effects from climate change we must limit global heating to 1.5 degrees. Unless there is drastic change around the world this isn't going to happen.
The BBC's report includes an interactive which allows you to see how much cities will warm around the world by 2100, under different climate scenarios. This interactive uses a graph to show recorded temperatures and the predicted temperature rises until 2100. It also states how many degrees temperatures in your city are predicted to increase by 2100. This charts shows predicted global heating under best case, medium case and worst case scenarios.
