The Cherry Blossom Map
The Washington Post has published a nice little map of the cherry blossom trees around the Tidal Basin in DC. Cherry Blossoms Around the Tidal Basin not only shows the location of all the cherry blossom trees but also shows the variety of each tree.
There isn't anything particularly innovative about this map but I like the look of the pink markers on the grey and white map tiles. I also like the icons used in the map menu. I wonder why they weren't also used as the map marker images.
The map also shows the location of other points of interest around the Tidal Basin, such as the Japanese lantern and the Japanese Pagoda. Look out for the 'indicator tree'. This tree by the outlet bridge is said to blossom seven to ten days before the dominant species of cherry blossom trees in the park. It therefore provides a great guide to when the park is likely to be in full bloom.
