Climb the Eiger on Street View
Back in June Google released stunning Street View imagery from a climb of El Capitan in Yosemite. The best way to explore this rock-climbing Street View is on this Behind the Scenes special.
El Capitan, Yosemite: Behind the Scenes is a great presentation of this new Street View imagery. As you scroll up the page you can view the locations of the Street View panoramas, superimposed upon the face of El Capitan.
However Google were not the first climbers to scale El Capitan with a panoramic camera strapped to their backs. That award must go to Mammut Project 360. What's more not only have Project 360 climbed El Capitan they have also climbed the Eiger, the Matterhorn, Elbrus and Rübezahl.
You can follow each of these climbs on Project 360. Each mountain includes a vertical mountain map, showing the route of the climb and, of course, some stunning 360 degree panoramic images captured during the climbs.
