Mapping Bizarre Britain

Every year hundreds of people in the English village of Brockworth chase an 8lb ball of cheese down Cooper's Hill. This is just one of the many strange folk traditions and customs which you can discover on the Best of Bizarre Blighty interactive map.

The Best of Bizarre Blighty is a calendar and map of some of the most eccentric and weird events that take place in Great Britain. For example in September you can travel to the south coast to watch human birdmen hurling themselves off the end of Bognor pier. In May you can attend the International Festival of Wormcharming, where contestants attempt to charm earthworms out of the ground.

The map and calendar features weird and eccentric events that take place across the UK and throughout the year. If you select an event on the map or calendar you can click through to read more about the bizarre event selected and, where available, visit the event's official website.
