Lebanese Elections on Google Maps

Lebanon is holding a general election on June 7th. Sharek961 wants to help improve transparency and accountability in the election through civic participation. They have therefore created a website that allows citizens to submit eyewitness reports on all election-related incidents or issues. People across Lebanon can send in reports to Sharek 961 through SMS, email, and the web.

Sharek961 anonymously publishes these citizen reports alongside news reports, blog posts, photos, videos and tweets all in one place, on an interactive Google Map. Reported incidents are shown on the map with circular map markers. Each marker contains a link to a page with a detailed report on the incident.

Regular readers of this blog will not be surprised to hear that Sharek961 is powered by Ushahidi.
