Google Time Travel

The problems with CERN's Large Hadron Collider have only gone and caused another rip in the space-time continuum, as evidenced by this Street View of a Roman Centurion suddenly appearing in modern day Rome.

How to Promote Google Transit
If you were Google how would you promote the new Transit directions in New York (introduced September 2008)? How about 'wrapping' whole subway trains? CenterNetworks have some great pictures of some subway trains as redecorated by the Google Maps team, including using the train windows to represent the information windows in Google Maps. I'm told this is the first time that New York subway trains have been completely 'wrapped'.

Team Polizei T-Shirts
I think I overshot with my previous Christmas present request. To my surprise I wasn't inundated by readers agreeing to buy me a house. I have therefore decided to set my sights a little lower and will settle for this t-shirt instead.

International rally racing champions and cross-country record holders Team Polizei have created the 'Athens-Tirana GeoTrack T-Shirt'. The t-shirt shows the GPS track of the Gumball ALK race. I like the shirt a lot - have a look at the larger image on the Team Polizei website.

Australian Street View Rival
Google Maps have a new rival for their Street View service in Australia. The WooWooWoo blog has a good post on this.

Norwegian Google Earth Rival
Whilst we are on rivals to Google it looks like Norwegian start-up Sesam 3D Map are going to give Google a run for their money in the 3D world market. Check out their interactive 3D model of Oslo in the video below. Apparently they will be releasing 3D models of other cities soon.

The 3D-maps on Sesam's web page isn't Norwegian, they are provided by Swedish company C3. They have maps of some Swedish cities here: http://www.hitta.se/3d/3d_splash.aspx (click the checkbox "Jag godkänner villkoren" (I accept the terms)).
