Canada Google Maps Mash-Up Round-Up

Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Route

The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Organizing Committee is using the Flash Maps API to show the Olympic Torch route. It is possible to search the route by a particular day, by a province, territory or by community.

Each day of the torch's route through Canada has its own map marker. Clicking on a map marker opens an information window with links to information about each of the celebration communities.

Heritage Toronto

Heritage Toronto, a charitable organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Toronto's rich heritage, has produced this Google Map of the city's archaeological site, museums and heritage walks.

It is possible to search the map by neighbourhood and it is possible to select location types you are interested in viewing. Each of the map markers contains a link to further information about the chosen location.

Sportaholik
Toronto Sportaholik has produced two Google Maps to show the locations of the city's Skating Rinks and Shinny Rinks.

Homezilla
Homezilla is a home buying tool that we have featured before on Google Maps Mania. The site lets home hunters enter a specific address and then search the various types of amenities in the area: Schools, Child Care Services, Restaurants, Pubs, Coffee Shops, Grocery Stores, Credit Unions and Dog Parks.

Two new features have now been added to the map. One is an option to view demographic data (income levels, etc). The other new feature allows the user to view past election results for all of Canada.

Homerent.ca
Homerent.ca is a website that has hundreds of apartment and house for rent listings in Canada. The site has Google Maps of available properties in Alberta, Ontario and British Columbia.

It is possible to refine a search on the map by property type, price and number of bedrooms. Each map marker includes links to further details about the individual property.

Sunshine Coast Real Estate Map
This map lists locations of hundreds of homes for sale in Gibsons, Roberts Creek, Sechelt, Halfmoon Bay, Pender Harbour, and neighbouring areas. The map is a useful tool for quickly finding property for sale in a popular area of British Columbia located 40 minutes from West Vancouver via ferry.

take care, Elli
