2000 Years of Volcanic Eruptions

Recently I, Scientist released an interactive map visualizing Volcanic Eruptions of the Last 2000 Years. The map plots the location and the frequency of volcano eruptions around the world using data from the the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History's Global Volcanism Program.

You can click on each eruption shown on the map to view the volcano's name, the date of the last eruption and the eruption category. The map also shows the location of the Earth's tectonic plates.

I, Scientist has also published a nice tutorial about how the map was created. How to Build an Interactive Map with CartoDB guides you through the process of making a map with CartoDB's mapping tool, from importing your data to selecting the information that you want to appear in the info windows.
