Follow the Dinosaur Trail

You can now follow in the footsteps of prehistoric dinosaurs in Queensland’s Outback with a new map of Australia's Dinosaur Trail.

The Australia's Dinosaur Trail application is a week long mapped tour passing through the three Queensland towns of Longreach, Richmond and Hughenden and a number of the area's many prehistoric areas of interest. The tour includes a number of dinosaur themed visits, including the Lark Quarry Dinosaur Trackways Tour, the Marine Fossil Byway and the Flinders Discovery Centre.

The tour is mapped using Esri's satellite image base map of Queensland's unique geological landscape. The circular map markers are each constructed using a unique image and also feature a neat 'distance ring' which indicates how far the location is from the nearest town.

You can read more about how the map was created on the developer's Demap Blog.
